Author’s Notes: Whew, what a journey! This is the longest thing I've written, and it really shows. When I planned this fic out it was only supposed to be 10,000 words (which is still huge for me), but it blossomed into something much longer and unexpected. I've learnt so much in the process, and while it's not very good, it's a huge stepping stone that means next time I try something this length it will be that little bit better. Things like plot, chapters, development over time - shesh! For a short fic writer, these were pretty new and exciting and scary! This fic wasn't originally meant to be broken up into chapters as the plan was for them to be somewhat connected segments, but that was before it took on a life of its own. As a result, the chapter lengths are all over the place. The last chapter was 8000 words before I chopped it in half, while some of the middle ones are only 1700 words long.
